Types Of Sofas And Chairs – Information & Advice

There are many different types of sofas and chairs available on the market today, and they come in all shapes and sizes. A list of the most popular types is detailed below…

Traditional Sofas : Sitting a few people, and having an armrest at each end which is normally about half the height of the backrest, these types of sofas are a common sight in most living rooms. You can find one in pretty much any color or pattern if you take the time to look around. They are the cheapest type of sofa, though you can also find some very expensive high-end ones too.

Sectional Sofas : These types of sofa allow you to get creative. They are typically made up of several pieces, which can fit together in a variety of ways. So, you could place the pieces in a line, in a L-shape, in a circular formation, or pretty much however you want really. They give a room a really modern and ‘arty’ feel. They are also a good choice if you move house often, as they are easy to transport, and you can easily add to the pieces that you have if you move to a bigger place.

Futons : Futons are similar to a sleeper sofa, as they provide both a bed and sofa in one. The difference between the two styles is that rather than having to remove the cushions from the sofa to convert it into the bed (in the case of the sleeper sofa), the cushions actually become the mattress. They are normally cheaper to buy than other types of sofas and they are easier to convert into a bed than a sleeper sofa, however, some lower-priced futons can wear out quickly.

Tub Chairs : Tub chairs can be described as upholstered chairs where the arms of the chair and the back of the chair form one piece, usually at the same height. A Tub chair provides an excellent level of comfort and make for an ideal relaxing, lounge chair for a living room or a study room. They add a certain elegance to a room too. You can get a matching set of them if you want to transform a whole room, or you can just get one for yourself without it looking out of place next to the existing sofas or chairs in the room.
