Doll with "foreign" engraved on the back - Antique?
Hello
I have a small porcelin/china/clay doll given to me from a relative.
I think it is an antique.
It is small and white and looks very old
It has the word FOREIGN engraved onto the back.
Can anyone help me identify it?

I think that your doll IS old. Your best bet would be to find a local doll dealer or doll club and ask their opinion on how you could identify your doll. Try the United Federation of Doll Clubs web site to see if there is a club in your area, or an appraiser that could look at some photos you send, for a reasonable fee.
Here is a link to a web site that features a bisque doll that is marked foreign on the back. When I copied the link, the doll was at the bottom of the page.

I did a quick net search and there are others with dolls marked foreign who would also like to know about them. One possibility is that they were patented not only for the country of manufacture but for foreign patents, as well.
